1. Overview
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") outlines the rules and guidelines that govern the use of Hostable's services. All users of our services must comply with this policy.
2. Prohibited Activities
You may not use our services to:
- Host, distribute, or link to content that is illegal under New Zealand law
- Send unsolicited bulk email (spam), phishing messages, or malware
- Conduct denial-of-service attacks or other network abuse
- Host content that infringes on intellectual property rights
- Run open proxies, open relays, or TOR exit nodes
- Mine cryptocurrency or run resource-intensive background processes without prior approval
- Store or distribute child exploitation material
- Engage in any activity that could damage our infrastructure or other users' services
3. Prohibited Content
The following types of content are not permitted on our servers:
- Malware, viruses, worms, trojans, or other harmful software
- Phishing pages or fraudulent websites
- Content promoting violence, harassment, or discrimination
- Pirated software, media, or other copyrighted material
- Gambling sites that do not comply with applicable regulations
4. Resource Usage
Shared hosting accounts are subject to fair use limits. Activities that consume excessive CPU, memory, disk I/O, or bandwidth may be restricted. We will make reasonable efforts to contact you before taking action.
5. Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your software and scripts up to date
- Using strong, unique passwords for all accounts
- Promptly addressing any security vulnerabilities in your hosted content
- Reporting any security incidents to our support team
6. Enforcement
Violations of this policy may result in:
- A warning and request to remedy the violation
- Temporary suspension of your account
- Permanent termination of your account
- Reporting to law enforcement where required
We reserve the right to take immediate action without prior notice in cases of severe violations that threaten our infrastructure or other users.
7. Reporting Abuse
If you believe a Hostable user is violating this policy, please report it to abuse@hostable.co.nz with as much detail as possible. We take all reports seriously and will investigate promptly.
